100% Tempranillo between 20 and 30 years from vineyards in Quintana del Pidio and Gumiel de Izán. Handpicked in 15 kilo boxes with a second selection at the winery. Aged 5 months in French barrels and then bottled March without cold stabilization.
A modern, youthful wine in its design and conception, with a beautiful deep picota cherry red colour and violet highlights and sufficient depth to suit its style and purpose. Its aromas largely recall ripe fruit, plums, red berries, spice, violets with a slight floral touch, a little smoked meat and vanilla provided by an exceptional ageing process. The fact that the malolactic fermentation has been carried out entirely in the barrel and that it has been aged and stirred on its own lees during this time is an original feature. The oak-ageing time has varied between batches until subsequent blending, which seeks elegance and final balance.
In the mouth the wine is soft, ripe and appetizing with lots of rich fruit and properly polished, well-integrated but still apparent tannins. A serious wine, but fun to drink with lots of different layers that you discover as you drink it. It has a pleasant, dry finish with good length. Production 42,500 bottles. Perfect with roast lamb, beef stew, fish stew and cheeses.
