100% Tempranillo from 20-30 year old vineyards in Quintana del Pidio and Gumiel de Izán. Handpicked in 15 kilo boxes with a second selection at the winery. Aged 12 months in French barrels and then bottled without cold stabilization.
A modern, youthful wine with a beautiful deep picota cherry red colour and violet highlights. Its aromas largely recall ripe fruit, plums, red berries, spice, violets with a slight floral touch, a little smoked meat and vanilla. Malolactic fermentation has been carried out entirely in the barrel and stirred on its own lees. The oak-ageing time varies between batches until subsequent blending, which seeks elegance and final balance. In the mouth the wine is soft, ripe and appetizing with lots of rich fruit and properly polished, well-integrated but still with apparent tannins. A serious wine, but fun to drink with lots of different layers that you discover as you drink it. It has a pleasant, dry finish with good length. Perfect with roast lamb, beef stew, fish stew and cheeses.
