The cellar’s flagship wine. 100% Tempranillo, manually harvested from average 30 year-old vines located on chalky-clay soils at the foot of the Sierra Cantabria near the villages of Brinas, San Vicente de La Sonsierra (Rioja Alta) and Labastida (Rioja Alavesa). 100% destemming. Cold maceration followed by 9 day fermentation with twice daily pumping over and a total 20 day maceration period with grape skins. Aged 12 months in 60% French, 35% American and 5% central European oak casks, bottled and aged for a further minimum of 12 months before release.
Intense dark cherry red colour with ruby rim. Complex, powerful red berry, morello cherry nose with hints of cinammon, cocoa and cedar wood. Velvety softness with great depth of ripe, red berry fruits, balanced acidity, tasty tannins, outstanding nobility, great structure, with a harmonic development climaxing in an elegant, persistent aftertaste. 'A wine you want to keep on drinking'. Production 167,000 bottles and Magnums (1.5l): 3700 bottles.
