Abadía da Cova Loia Godello/Albariño Barrica Estate Wine

Adegas Moure DO Ribeira Sacra

Manually-harvested Godello (80%) and Albariño (20%) in boxes of 18 kilos, with average age of 40-45 years from two south-facing terraces, Cunas and As Cancelas at an altitude of 410m on slopes with a 52% gradient. The soils here are schist and granite with a predominance of silts and seasonal plant cover. Vines are arbour trained or “parral” and Guyot pruned. Density of planting is 3850 vines/ha. The heroes of this vineyard are Antonio and Ramón who supervise with perseverance to get the best of these grapes. On arrival at the winery the grapes are cooled to 4 degrees for 24 hours. Then they are destemmed and lightly pressed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with strict temperature control. Then it is aged on its lees in French oak and Acacia barrels for 4-5 months with weekly battonnage which imparts elegance and finesse and helps enhance the unique characteristics of these varieties. Natural clarification occurs without cold stabilization by leaving the wine to stand over time. Straw yellow with golden hues, dense and glyceric. Very complex and powerful nose, floral and fruity with toasted and spicy hints and dried fruits. On the palate it is tasty, silky, long and durable with perfect acidity. Excellent evolution of 1- 8 years in bottle to more complex tones where there is also aromas of kerosene, honey and bitter orange with a palate fresh and full of aromatic sensations. Limited production: 3550 bottles. 13.5% abv.
