As part of the Castillo Perelada group, a family-owned business
based in Empurdán, the production of cava was extended
to Vilafranca del Penedés when the group purchased
the cava producer, Olivella Ferrari, in 1979, traditionally
considered to be a model winery in terms of quality. Modernised
and enlarged in 1990, Castillo Perelada has an annual capacity
of about three and a half million bottles. The three white
grape varieties of the DO Penedés region are used,
predominantly Macabeo
and Xarel-lo,
together with a little Parellada.
The Castell d'Olerdola range includes a Brut Reserva, a Brut
Rosado, and a Semi-seco, and two new cavas with Kosher certifications
were released in January 2008. We are the sole UK agents for
the Castell d'Olerdola cavas.
