Tinta
de Toro from average 20 year old vines aged 6 months in
oak. Organic viticulture and very low and controlled yields
of less than 3000 kg/ha. Harvested manually from September
15th-30th, 2006. Vinification in thermo-regulated stainless
steel vats. 2 days cold maceration, spontaneous fermentation
and total maceration of 15 days. For the ageing process, 50%
of the wine is kept in deposit with micro-oxygenation with
the remaining 50% of the wine aged 6 months in oak (80% American,
20% French). Half of the oak barrels are new and the other
half are one-year-old. Total production 35,000 litres. Bottled
June 2007.
Deep bright purple red colour with a violet rim. Intense aromas
of dense dark red fruits with a light touch of spice and fine
oak. Wonderful ripe lush black fruit, rich, meaty body on
palate, well integrated with supple ripe tannins, chocolate,
herbs.Well structured wine with fresh tannins and long finish.
