55%
Garnacha,
35% Cariñena,
5% Merlot and
5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at 26 deg.C.,
with maceration for 28 to 30 days. It is aged 16 months in
new French Allier oak except for the Cariñena which
is aged in American oak as Rafa believes it gives more rounded
tannins and richer jammy aromas, and then 6 months in bottle.
13.75% Vol. Incredibly dark cherry colour, splendid, very
intense nose with rich blackcurrant fruit and hints of minerals
and slate, massive and mouthfilling vibrant blackcurrant and
bramble fruit with complex notes of spices and minerals, great
structure and depth with elegant ripe tannins that end in
a long and memorable finish. Absolutely superb, a classic.
It may be laid down for the next 5 years.
