100% Tempranillo between 25 and 80 years from vineyards of La Horra, Roa, Olmedillo, Quintana del Pidio, Sotillo de la Ribera and Gumiel de Izán. Handpicked in 15 kilo boxes with a second rigorous selection at the winery. Aged 12 months in mainly new French (95%) and American (5%) oak barrels where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and bottled April without cold stabilization.
Very opaque, intense picota cherry red colour and powerful, bright violet shades. Great aromatic intensity on the nose with plenty of largely black forest fruit, ripe blueberries, with touches of white flowers, chocolate and cocoa, in perfect harmony with faint mineral tones. Notes of tobacco, together with touches of clove and Jamaican pepper, provide this splendid nose with a touch of complexity. On the palate, the wine has personality, with pleasant, very polished tannin, giving it character and power. It is silky and elegant with a fresh acidity providing it with the perfect long finish. Production: 38,500 bottles. Excellent with roast lamb, venison, game, red meats, and semi-cured cheeses.
